GET BIS CERTIFICATION FOR CONDUITS FOR ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS- RIGID STEEL CONDUITS IS 9537 (Part 2) : 1981

A conduit is a tube used for protection and routing electrical wiring mostly in building structure. Conduits are installed at site by the electrician.

Electrical conduit can be made up of several different types of materials such as metal, plastic, fiber or fired clay. Conduits are further classified as rigid or flexible. Made of noncombustible material, steel conduit protects against fire and explosions. For any place in a building that fire could reach, steel conduit is easy to install, provides additional protection against fire damage, and will not burn. Steel conduit saves  from the cost of installation throughout the life of a building. Recognizing the durability of steel pipes is a modern and positive trend. Steel piping has been an industry favorite for a century due to its superior protection against physical damage. But as we face more natural and man-made disasters, building stronger infrastructure is increasingly important – and steel conduit is the perfect electrical track because it allows the track to be removed, altered, updated and reused, which is generally not possible with cable methods.

BIS is a statutory institution established under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act,1986  to promote harmonious development of the activities of standardization, marking and quality certification of goods and attending to connected matters in the country.
