GET BIS CERTIFICATION FOR CROP PROTECTION EQUIPMENT - HAND-OPERATED KNAPSACK SPRAYER, PISTON TYPE IS 3906:1995

 

Sprayer is a machine used to apply liquid chemicals on plants to control pest and diseases. It can also be used to apply herbicides to control weeds and to spray micro-nutrients to enhance plant growth. Knapsack sprayer consists of a pump and an air chamber permanently installed in a 9 to 22.5 liters tank. The handle of the pump extending over the shoulder or under the arm of operator makes it possible to pump with one hand and spray with the other. It has a spray lance fitted with nozzle and has two straps for mounting the sprayer at the back of the operator. Uniform pressure can be maintained by keeping the pump in continuous operation.

 

BIS is a statutory institution established under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act,1986  to promote harmonious development of the activities of standardization, marking and quality certification of goods and attending to connected matters in the country.

Crop Protection Equipment - Hand-operated Knapsack Sprayer, Piston Type product has been specified in IS 3906:1995 by Bureau of Indian Standards.

SCOPE :

1.1 This standard prescribes material, performance, constructional and other requirements of hand-operated knapsack sprayer, piston type, used for spraying pesticides.

1.1.1 The sprayers of this type are normally used with an average working pressure of 300 kPa (100 kPa = 1.019 7 kgf/cm2 = 1 bar).
