BIS Certification For Fasteners -Threaded Steel Fasteners – Step Bolts For Steel Structure IS 10238:2001


A threaded fastener is a discrete piece of hardware that has internal or external screw threads. It falls into the overall fastener family. They are usually used for the assembly of multiple parts and facilitate disassembly. The most common types are the screw, nut and bolt.

Step bolts feature a wider, lower-profile, round head and are similar to carriage bolts in bearing surface and square-neck design. Step bolts are commonly used in decking applications, or where wood is bolted down because the larger diameter head of the step bolt will not pull through the soft wood. Step bolts may also be called ''pole step”.

The most common types are the screw, nut and bolt. Other more specialized types of threaded fasteners include captive threaded fasteners, stud, threaded inserts, and threaded rods.

Fasteners – Threaded Steel Fasteners – Step Bolts for Steel Structure product has been specified in IS 10238 : 2001 by Bureau of Indian Standards.

SCOPE

1.1 This standard covers the requirements for step bolt used in steel structures including transmission towers to gain access to the top.

1.2 Each bolt shall be supplied with two hexagon nuts.

Raw Material :

As per clause 5 of IS 10238: 2001 read in conjunction with clause 6, Table 2 of IS 1367 (Part 3): 2017
