GET BIS CERTIFICATION FOR FIBRE ROPES – POLYPROPYLENE SPLIT FILM, MONOFILAMENT AND MULTIFILAMENT (PP2) AND POLYPROPYLENE HIGH- TENACITY MULTIFILAMENT (PP3) – 3-, 4-, 8- AND 12-STRAND ROPES IS 5175:2014

 

A strong, lightweight polypropylene rope that floats and has excellent resistance to oil, marine growth and most common chemicals. Lacks the abrasion resistance of standard monofilament polypro Designed to not rot or deteriorate.

 

BIS is a statutory institution established under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act,1986  to promote harmonious development of the activities of standardization, marking and quality certification of goods and attending to connected matters in the country.

Fibre ropes – Polypropylene split film, monofilament and multifilament (PP2) and polypropylene high- tenacity multifilament (PP3) – 3-, 4-, 8- and 12-strand ropes product has been specified in IS 5175:2014 by Bureau of Indian Standards.

SCOPE :

This Indian Standard (Fourth Revision) which is identical with ISO 1346 : 2021 ‘Fibre ropes - Polypropylene split film, monofilament and multifilament (PP2) and polypropylene high tenacity multifilament (PP3) - 3-, 4-, 8- and 12- strand ropes’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Cordage Sectional Committee and approval of the Textiles Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 1969 and subsequently revised in 1982, 1992 and 2014. The fourth revision of this standard has been undertaken to harmonize it with the latest version of ISO 1346 : 2021.
