Tin is a chemical element, silvery-coloured metal. Tin is soft enough to be cut with little force and a bar of tin can be bent by hand with little effort. When bent, the so-called "tin cry" can be heard as a result of twinning in tin crystals.

Tin boxes are made from tinplate that is steel electro plated with a layer of tin, this makes the tin a printable surface with a bright finish. Tinplate is supplied either on a coil and cut into sheets or is supplied in sheets.

 

BIS is a statutory institution established under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act,1986  to promote harmonious development of the activities of standardization, marking and quality certification of goods and attending to connected matters in the country.

Square Tins - 15 kg/litre For Ghee, Vanaspati, Edible Oils and Bakery Shortenings product has been specified in IS 10325:2000 by Bureau of Indian Standards.

SCOPE :

This standard specifies the requirements for 15 kg/litre square tins used for packing of ghee, vanaspati, edible oils and bakery shortenings (or nitrogen dispersed edible oils).
