Galvanization or galvanizing is the process of applying a protective zinc coating to steel or iron, to prevent rusting. The most common method is hot-dip galvanizing, in which the parts are coated by submerging them in a bath of hot, molten zinc.

Steel drums are cylindrical barrels designed to hold large quantities of industrial liquids or semi-liquids, such as oils, chemicals, or foodstuffs.

 

BIS is a statutory institution established under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act,1986  to promote harmonious development of the activities of standardization, marking and quality certification of goods and attending to connected matters in the country.

Steel Drums (Galvanized and Ungalvanized) product has been specified in IS 2552:1989 by Bureau of Indian Standards.

SCOPE :

This standard specifies the requirements for mild steel(galvanized and ungalvanized drums with fixed ends of nominal capacity ranging from 3 to 150 litres.
