BIS Certification For Tower Bolts Ferrous Metals IS 204 (PART 1) : 1991


Tower Bolt is a rod-shaped bolt for fastening a door or the like, attached to one side of the door at the edge and sliding into a cylindrical casing on the frame of the opening. These may be ferrous or non-ferrous.

For bolts made of ferrous metals:

  1. Barrel Tower Bolts:

a) Mild steel barrel tower bolts with mild steel barrel and mild steel bolt.
b) Mild steel barrel tower bolts with mild steel barrel and cast iron bolt.

  1. Semi-Barrel Tower Bolts:

a) Mild steel semi-barrel tower bolts, full cover with mild steel sheet pressed barrel and mild steel bolt.
b) Mild steel semi-barrel tower bolts, full cover with mild steel sheet pressed barrel and cast iron bolt.
c) Mild steel semi-barrel tower bolts, open cover with mild steel sheet pressed barrel and mild steel bolt.
d) Mild steel semi-barrel tower bolts, open cover with mild steel sheet pressed barrel and cast iron bolt.

  1. Riveted or Spot Welded Tower Bolts:

a) Mild steel tower bolts riveted type with back plate and mild steel bolt and open staple.
b) Mild steel tower bolts riveted type with back plate and cast iron bolt and open staple.

  1. Skeleton Tower Bolts:

a) Mild steel skeleton tower bolts with steel sheet pressed plate and staples and mild steel bolt.

 

BIS is a statutory institution established under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act,1986  to promote harmonious development of the activities of standardization, marking and quality certification of goods and attending to connected matters in the country.

Tower Bolts – Ferrous Metals product has been specified in IS 204 (Part 1) : 1991 by Bureau of Indian Standards.

Scope

This standard (Part 1) lays down the requirements for tower bolts made of ferrous metals.
