We are pleased to inform you that the ERCS team has successfully conducted another BIS audit for our client for their product "AAC Block" as per IS 2185 (Part 3) as per Scheme - I. As a result, the Bureau of Indian Standards has awarded a BIS Licence for the AAC Block in accordance with IS 2185 (Part 3).


What is BIS?


The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is India's national standards body, functioning under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution, Government of India. BIS specializes in product standardization, certification, and testing.


ISI Scheme 


Under this program, the licensee (maker) is required to use or apply a Standard Mark ISI provided by the Bureau of Indian Standards for items created on a manufacturing premises that meet all of the requirements of the applicable Indian Standard(s).


Audited Products :


IS 2185 (Part 3) covers AAC blocks. This standard specifies the specifications, sampling method, and test for AAC Blocks used for general applications. AAC blocks may be used to create a variety of buildings, including walls, floors, and roofs. To swiftly build a strong building, blocks are placed with mortar in a running bond.


Suggestions to Manufacturers :


 To achieve BIS certification for AAC Blocks IS 2185 (Part 3) and produce a standard quality product, the producer must verify that their product meets the stated Indian Standard Specifications (ISS), which we have directly interpreted to you from BIS authorities in accordance with Indian Standards. 


All producers must get a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards in order to sell their products in India and use the standard ISI mark.

About BIS Auditing Process

  • Samples are tested at the plant according to the applicable Indian standards.
  • Seal samples for independent testing at a BIS-recognized laboratory.

4. Whether the company has the capacity to comply with the legislative and regulatory obligations; such as—

  • Quality Personnel Competence
