We are pleased to announce that the ERCS team has successfully completed another BIS audit for our customer in Bangladesh for their product "Caustic Soda" in accordance with IS 252 and the FMCS Scheme. Consequently, The Bureau of Indian Standards has issued a BIS License for Caustic Soda as per IS 252.
What is BIS?
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is India's national standards body, functioning under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution, Government of India. BIS specializes in product standardization, certification, and testing.
FMCS Scheme
The BIS Act of 2016 and the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations of 2018 establish the FMCS system, which grants a BIS license to a foreign manufacturer. The license is awarded for goods that meet relevant Indian Standards.
Audited Products :
IS 252 covers caustic soda. This standard specifies the specifications, method of sampling, and test for Caustic Soda intended for general use.
Caustic soda is commonly used to clean drain pipes, unclog drains, remove grease from ovens, and manufacture soap and detergents. It is a versatile tool to have around the house because it has several applications. Sodium hydroxide and chlorine are combined to make chlorine bleach.
Suggestions to Manufacturers :
To achieve BIS certification and produce a standard quality product, the producer must verify that their product meets the stated Indian Standard Specifications (ISS), which we have directly interpreted to you from BIS authorities in accordance with Indian Standards.
All producers must get a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards in order to sell their products in India and use the standard ISI mark.

About BIS Auditing Process :
