Consequently, the Bureau of Indian Standards has issued a BIS license for Ferroalloys as per IS 1171, IS 1170, IS 1470.

The ISI Mark is the official mark awarded by the Bureau of Indian Standards to producers of different goods. Since its first use in 1955, it has become a symbol of quality, safety, and confidence. It certifies that the product meets the Indian standards (IS) established by India's national standard agency, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
IS 1171 covers specifications, sampling techniques, and testing procedures of BIS certification for Ferromanganese. The license can be granted for all the particle sizes of the Ferromanganese specified in the specification and applied by the applicant/licensee, provided that the firm has all the necessary manufacturing and testing facilities for the manufacture and testing of all other particle sizes of the Ferromanganese proposed to be included in the license.
IS 1170 covers the specifications, sampling technique, and testing procedures for Ferrochromium. Possible tests in one day are Particle Size tests, All chemical tests & Extraneous Contamination.
IS 1470 covers Silicomanganese's specifications, sampling technique, and testing procedures. The manufacturer shall maintain test records for the tests carried out to establish conformity. Sample Size according to the product manual is 5Kg (for lab sample, Compliance to Cl 6.1.3 of IS 1472 to be ensured)
To obtain BIS certification for the product, the manufacturer must produce a standard quality product that fulfills the Indian Standard Specifications (ISS). The interpretations of the BIS officials are consistent with Indian standards.
Before exporting products within India with the standard ISI mark, all producers must get a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards.
