The BIS officer inspects the factory and the product to be certified. BIS audits are conducted in conjunction with external auditors to examine several management system certification systems. As an outcome, the Bureau of Indian Standards has issued a BIS license for Ferrochromium as per IS 1170.
What is BIS?
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is an organization situated in India that deals with standards, and under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution of the Government of India. Major activities of BIS include product standardization, certification, and testing.
ISI Scheme
The ISI Mark is the official mark awarded by the Bureau of Indian Standards to producers of different goods. Known since 1955, it has earned its reputation as the emblem of quality, safety, and confidence. This confirms that the product is produced to the Indian standards (IS) set by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) which is an Indian national standards agency.
Audited Products :
IS 1170 covers Ferrochromium. This standard set out the specifications, sampling technique, and testing procedures of BIS certification for Ferrochromium. Possible tests in a day are Particle Size test, All chemical tests & Extraneous Contamination.

For BIS certification of the product, the manufacturer should produce a standard quality product, making sure that their product fulfills the mentioned Indian Standard Specifications (ISS). BIS officials' interpretations following Indian Standards.

BIS Auditing Process :

ii. The labeling or the sealing of each sample for testing in an independent laboratory that is recognized by BIS.
d) Whether the enterprise can comply with the regulatory and legislative obligations; such as—
