BIS CERTIFICATION OF ELASTOMER INSULATED CABLES - (PART.1): FOR WORKING VOLTAGES UP TO AND INCLUDING 1100 V IS 9968 Part 1
The Elastomer cables are popularly known as Rubber cables and probably the first type insulation in the world. Originally it was with natural rubber for both insulation & Sheath, however, in late 70s, it has been replaced by synthetic rubber for insulation & sheath. Elastomer cables are also available with rigid copper conductors and having properties like Fire Survival, Zero Halogen and Low toxicity FS properties.
Elastomer Insulated Cables are used in the following areas –
Introduction to Indian Standard IS 9968 (Part 1); Elastomer insulated cables
Braided and compounded/varnished,
Elastomer sheathed (normal duty), and
Elastomer sheathed (normal duty) with earth continuity conductor.
Braided and varnished, and
Elastomer sheathed (heavy duty).
