BIS CERTIFICATION FOR GLASS FIBRE REINFORCED GYPSUM PANELS IS 17400

 

1.   Introduction to Indian Standard IS 17400; Glass Fibre Reinforced Gypsum Panels  

 

·       IS 17400 cover Glass Fibre Reinforced Gypsum Panels. This standard specifies the manufacturing, chemical and physical requirements and testing of Glass Fibre Reinforced Gypsum Panels.

·       Raw material shall be confirm to the following point –

a)   Calcined Gypsum/Gypsum Plaster shall confirm clause 5.1

b)   Glass Fibre Rovings shall be as per Clause 5.2.

c)    Potable Water shall be as per clause 5.3

·       IS 17400 specifies the quality parameters or characteristics of the Glass Fibre Reinforced Gypsum Panels  as follows

(i)           Visual Inspection & Dimension and Squareness

(ii)         Water Content

(iii)        Panel Mass

(iv)        Water Absorption  

(v)          Vertical Load bearing capacity

(vi)        Out of Plane moment capacity, Rib Parallel to span

(vii)       Out of Plane moment capacity, Rib Perpendicular to span

(viii)     Moh’s hardness

(ix)        Fire Resistance

(x)          Glass Fibre Content  

 

 

2.   Mandate for ISI Mark Certification of Glass Fibre Reinforced Gypsum Panels  (IS 17400) :

·       Under section 14 of Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986 (63 of 1986), the Ministry of Commerce and Industry after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards has issued the Quality control order.

·       As per the Quality control order, all the manufacturers of Glass Fibre Reinforced Gypsum Panels are obligated to obtain ISI Mark Certification.

 

3.  Types of Glass Fibre Reinforced Gypsum Panels covered under IS                  

 

“Licence is granted to use Standard Mark on Glass Fibre Reinforced Gypsum Panels as per IS 17400:2021”.

·     In the certification process, product testing is the most important stage as it determines whether the quality of the product meets Indian standards.

·       For the same purpose, investments in testing facilities are required to install test equipment for internal factory test laboratories.

·       Apart from charges mentioned above in the table, we may ask you to pay/reimbursement for a Pre-Visit at your Factory Premises to ensure the conformity of your product as per the relevant Indian Standard & BIS guidelines for its BIS certification.
