·       IS 17399 cover Polypropylene (PP)/ High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Laminated Woven Sacks for Mail Sorting, Storage, Transport and Distribution. This standard specifies the manufacturing, chemical and physical requirements and testing of Polypropylene (PP)/ High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Laminated Woven Sacks for Mail Sorting, Storage, Transport and Distribution.

·       Raw materials PP and HDPE used for manufacture of tape shall conform to the requirements specified in IS 10910 or IS 10146, respectively, excluding overall migration.

·       If the firm is directly purchasing HDPE/PP Fabric Tapes, they shall confirm to Clause 5.2 of IS 17399, and IS 6192 / IS 11197 respectively.

2.   Mandate for ISI Mark Certification of Polypropylene (PP)/ High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Laminated Woven Sacks for Mail Sorting, Storage, Transport and Distribution (IS 17399) :

·       Under section 14 of Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986 (63 of 1986), the Ministry of Chemical and Fertilizers, Department of Chemical and Petrochemical after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards has issued the Quality control order.

·       As per the Quality control order, all the manufacturers of Polypropylene (PP)/ High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Laminated Woven Sacks for Mail Sorting, Storage, Transport and Distribution are obligated to obtain ISI Mark Certification.

·     In the certification process, product testing is the most important stage as it determines whether the quality of the product meets Indian standards.

·       For the same purpose, investments in testing facilities are required to install test equipment for internal factory test laboratories.
