1.   Introduction to Indian Standard IS 9755; High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) / Polypropylene (PP) Woven Sacks for Packaging Fertilizers

 

·       IS 9755 cover High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) / Polypropylene (PP) Woven Sacks for Packaging Fertilizers. This standard specifies the manufacturing, chemical and physical requirements and testing of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) / Polypropylene (PP) Woven Sacks for Packaging Fertilizers.

·       HDPE/PP used for manufacture of tape shall conform to IS 10146/IS 10910 respectively. The liner if used shall be LDPE/LLDPE/HMHDPE/HDPE. Test certificate from raw material manufacturer shall be obtained for each lot of HDPE/PP/Liner received indicating conformity to relevant requirements of the Indian Standard.

·       If the Manufacturer is directly purchasing HDPE/PP Fabric Tapes, they shall confirm to Clause 3.2 of IS 9755, and IS 6192 / IS 11197 respectively.

·       IS 9755 specifies the quality parameters or characteristics of the High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) / Polypropylene (PP) Woven Sacks for Packaging Fertilizers as follows

2.   Mandate for ISI Mark Certification of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) / Polypropylene (PP) Woven Sacks for Packaging Fertilizers (IS 9755) :

·       Under section 14 of Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986 (63 of 1986), the Ministry of Chemical and Fertilizers, Department of Chemical and Petrochemical after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards has issued the Quality control order.

·       As per the Quality control order, all the manufacturers of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) / Polypropylene (PP) Woven Sacks for Packaging Fertilizers are obligated to obtain ISI Mark Certification.

 

3.  Types of Woven Sack covered under IS 9755                     

 

“Licence is granted to use Standard Mark on High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) / Polypropylene (PP) Woven Sacks for Packaging Fertilizers as per IS 9755:2021”.
Types / Scope of License	Types – I/II Material – HDPE/PP Other Aspects - With / without Lamination, with / without Liner, with / without UVStabilization, Pigmented/Non Pigmented sacks or sacks manufactured with Pigmented /Non Pigmented Tapes.

 

 

4.   Procedure to obtain BIS Certification of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) / Polypropylene (PP) Woven Sacks for Packaging Fertilizers to use ISI mark as per IS 9755

·     In the certification process, product testing is the most important stage as it determines whether the quality of the product meets Indian standards.

·       For the same purpose, investments in testing facilities are required to install test equipment for internal factory test laboratories.

·       Apart from charges mentioned above in the table, we may ask you to pay/reimbursement for a Pre-Visit at your Factory Premises to ensure the conformity of your product as per the relevant Indian Standard & BIS guidelines for its BIS certification.
