Introduction to Indian Standard IS 15961; Hot Dip aluminium- Zinc alloy metallic coated steel strip and sheet (Plain)
- IS 15961 cover Hot Dip aluminium- Zinc alloy metallic coated steel strip and sheet (Plain). This standard covers the requirement of continuously hot-dip aluminium-zinc alloy metallic coated steel strip and sheet (plain) specification of 0.25 mm to 1.5 mm thick base steel. Sheets and coils are produced by uniformly coating over both surfaces of cold rolled steel coil as base.
This standard covers requirements for steel grades, coating classes and surface finishes as follows:
- a) Normal (N)/Skin-passed (S);
- b) Aluminum/Zinc coating classes; and
- c) Structural steel grades.

Mandate for ISI Mark Certification of Hot Dip aluminium- Zinc alloy metallic coated steel strip and sheet (Plain) (IS 15961) :
- Under section 14 of Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986, the Ministry of Steel, consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards has issued the Steel and Steel Product List (Quality control order) according to the QCO, Product can’t be sold in the Indian Market without having BIS (ISI Mark) Certificate.
- As per the Quality control order, allthe manufacturers of Hot Dip aluminium- Zinc alloy metallic coated steel strip and sheet (Plain) are obligated to obtain ISI Mark Certification.
