Introduction to Indian Standard IS 9873 Part 1 (2,3,4,7,9) and IS 15644; Non- Electric and Electric Toys

 

  • IS 9873 Part 1 (2,3,4,7,9) & IS 15644 cover Non Electric and Electric Toys. This Indian Standard is published in several parts. The other parts in this series are:

IS 15644, this Indian Standard which is identical with IEC 62115 ( 2003) ‘Electrical toys — Safety’ issued by the International Electro-technical Commission ( IEC ) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Electrical Appliances Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrical Division Council.

  1. Mandate for ISI Mark Certification of Non Electric and Electric Toys (IS 9873 Part 1 (2,3,4,7,9) & IS 15644) :
  • Under section 14 of Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986 (63 of 1986), the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards has issued the Cement (Quality control) order.
  • As per the Toys (Quality control) order, all the manufacturers of Non Electric and Electric Toys are obligated to obtain ISI Mark Certification.
