Seamless gas cylinders are filled with compressed gas or liquefied gas in a high pressure exceeding 1 MPa, and are used for storage and transportation. As stipulated by the High Pressure Gas Safety Act, safety requirements exist for gas purpose, production, inspection, handling and management.

- This type of gas cylinder presents a refillable seamless steel tube aimed for transportation of compressed and liquefied gases exposed to extreme world-wide ambient temperatures. These tubes can be used alone or in batteries to equip trailers or multiple element gas containers (ISO modules or skids).
Introduction to Indian Standard IS 7285 (Part 1); Refillable Seamless steel gas cylinders - Normalized steel cylinders
- IS 7285 (Part 1) cover Refillable Seamless steel gas cylinders - Normalized steel cylinders. This standard specifies minimum requirements for the material, design, construction and workmanship, manufacturing processes and tests at manufacture of refillable normalized or normalized and tempered seamless steel gas cylinders of water capacities from 0.5 litre upto and including 400 litres for compressed, liquefied and dissolved gases.

Mandate for ISI Mark Certification of Refillable Seamless steel gas cylinders - Normalized steel cylinders (IS 7285 (Part 1)) :
- Under section 14 of Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986 (63 of 1986), the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Department for Industrial Policy and Promotion (LR section) after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards has issued the Pneumatic Tyres and Tubes for Automotive Vehicles (Quality control) order, 2009.
- As per this Quality Control order, allthe manufacturers of Refillable Seamless steel gas cylinders - Normalized steel cylinders are obligated to obtain ISI Mark Certification.

- In the certification process, product testing is the most important stage as it determines whether the quality of the product meets Indian standards.
- For the same purpose, investments in testing facilities are required to install test equipment for internal factory test laboratories.
