Introduction to Indian Standard IS 6528; Stainless Steel Wires

• IS 6528 cover Stainless Steel Wires. This standard covers the requirement for stainless steel wire for general corrosion resistance. This standard shall not apply to wire used for manufacture of welding electrodes.

• Under section 14 of Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986, the Ministry of Steel, consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards has issued the Steel and Steel Product List (Quality control order) according to the QCO, Product can’t be sold in the Indian Market without having BIS (ISI Mark) Certificate.
• As per the this order, allthe manufacturers of Stainless Steel Wires are obligated to obtain ISI Mark Certification.
