WIRELESS WIFI SMART WATCH

A Wifi Smart Watch is a type of wearable technology that connects to the internet through WiFi and lets the user access online features and services right from their wrist. Most of these smart watches have touch screens and can be paired with a smartphone to give it more features. Some of the best things about WiFi smart watches are that they can connect to the internet, send and receive notifications, track your health and fitness, use GPS navigation, have voice assistants, and work with apps. To get WPC approval, a WiFi smart watch must meet the following technical requirements: it must be compatible with the Qi wireless charging standard, capable of wireless charging at a power level of 5 watts or more, comply with the WPC's communication protocol, and be tested to make sure it is safe and meets all relevant regulatory requirements.

Some of the most important things about WiFi smart watches are:

Internet connectivity: WiFi smart watches can connect to the internet through a WiFi network. This lets users browse the web, stream music or videos, and use online services right from their wrist.

Notifications: When paired with a smartphone, WiFi smart watches can show incoming calls, messages, and other alerts. This lets the user stay in touch even when they don't have their phone with them.

Health and fitness tracking: Many WiFi smart watches have sensors that track the user's physical activity, such as how many steps they take, how far they walk, and how many calories they burn. Some models also have features that let you track your heart rate and sleep.

GPS navigation: Some WiFi smart watches have built-in GPS receivers that let users track their location and get directions without needing to use their phone.

Voice assistants: Many WiFi smart watches have voice assistants like Siri, Google Assistant, or Alexa. This lets users ask questions, set reminders, and control smart home devices with voice commands.

App Support: WiFi smart watches usually work with a variety of apps that can be downloaded and installed directly on the device. These apps can add extra features like weather forecasts, news updates, and access to social media.

The WPC is an international group that sets standards for wireless power transfer and promotes them.

For a WiFi smart watch to get WPC approval, it must meet the following technical requirements:

It must work with the Qi standard for wireless charging, which is the standard for wireless charging in the industry.

It must be able to charge wirelessly with at least 5 watts of power.

It has to work with the WPC's communication protocol, which is how the charging pad and the device being charged can talk to each other.

It needs to be tested to make sure it is safe and meets all the rules and regulations.

The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) is a group in the business world that sets standards for wireless charging technologies, such as the popular Qi standard. To get WPC approval for a WiFi smartwatch, the device must be compatible with the Qi standard and have a charging coil that is also compatible with the Qi standard. The device must also be tested for wireless charging, safety standards must be met, and the device must be submitted for approval. Once the device has been approved, it will get a certificate that says it is Qi-certified and meets WPC standards. This certification tells customers that the device is safe and reliable and can be used with any wireless charging pad that is Qi-compatible.

WPC ETA APPROVAL AND IMPORT LICENCE REQUIREMENT:

The following are the prerequisites for WPC ETA approval:

For foreign manufacturers: All foreign manufacturers must designate an authorized Indian representative if they do not already have a liaison office or branch office in India (AIR).

The manufacturer will become the AIR if they have a liaison office or branch office in India.

A foreign producer must designate AIR for an import licence, and this individual must match that identified in the WPC ETA application.

For domestic manufacturers: The domestic manufacturers may apply directly for a WPC ETA licence, WPC import licence, and WPC export licence without involving AIR.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR WPC LICENCE/ ETA CERTIFICATE

For WPC ETA approval, the following documents are needed:

  • Copy of company registration
  • Copy of company GST registration
  • ID and address proof of authorized person
  • Radio frequency test report from IS0 17025 accredited foreign lab or any NABL accredited Indian Lab
  • Letter of Authorization
  • Product technical details
  • IEC in case of import
  • A Purchase order in case of import
  • Receipt of online fee
  • Test report (CE/RoHS/ASTM/EN)

What is an RF (radio frequency) test report and how can I get one for my WPC (ETA) certificate?

We are all aware that in order to evaluate any materials or products, we must travel to the laboratories in order to obtain the comprehensive reports and characteristics of it, so it is extremely encouraging to see that Indian regulatory compliance authorities and WPC are carefully observing every detail while rewarding and granting any licence. The RF report is crucial in the WPC ETA licencing scenario.

To verify sure radio transmissions are utilising the spectrum effectively, their frequency can be examined via RF testing. The absence of radio frequency interference in the airspace is referred to as efficiency in this context.

The majority of broadcasts, including Wi-Fi, PMR radio, cellular devices, and many more, are checked for radio frequency. Laws requiring adherence to periodicity criteria are generally in place.

For items using DE-licensed frequency bands, WPC Registration requires an RF testing report from a foreign lab accredited by ILAC or an Indian lab authorised by NAB.

For ETA approval to import or sell their products in India, manufacturers and importers must have their products tested in NABL/ILAC recognised labs. For WPC ETA approval, test report(s) of all RF modules, without any modifications, will be uploaded if the imported product has multiple RF modules.

For DE-licensed frequency band devices to acquire WPC ETA Approval, a detailed test report of the apparatus received from a reputable laboratory must be submitted for review.

We help our customers test their equipment and gather test results in the right format for submission to WPC.

WPC ETA (EQUIPMENT TYPE APPROVAL) CERTIFICATION PROCESS

1.Checking the EN Standard and RF-Test Report - The WPC ETA certification process begins with a review of the EN Standard and frequency range in the product's RF-Test report. A self-declaration certificate is issued if the frequency range corresponds to one of the necessary devices that operate under a DE Licence.

2.Document Preparation - After confirming the frequency range from the RF-Report, all of the aforementioned documents are gathered in accordance with that.

3.Online portal generation - To obtain login information, a WPC online application must be completed on the Saral Sanchar portal.

4.Government Fees Can Be Paid Online - Government fees can be paid online.

5.Online/Offline Document Submission - The applicant must submit the necessary documents to the WPC authority both online and offline for a particular type of licence.

6.Document Verification - WPC personnel will check the documentation and the RF test report. WPC representatives may ask for the missing document or additional information, as necessary, for clarification if the documents submitted are not in order.

7.WPC ETA Certificate Grant - If WPC officials are pleased with the product's documentation and test results, an Equipment Type Approval Certificate (WPC certificate) will be given.
