We are delighted to tell you that the ERCS team has concluded another BIS audit for our client in Sri Lanka for their product "Aluminium Cans for Beverages" in accordance with IS 14407 under the FMCS scheme.
Consequently, the Bureau of Indian Standards has issued a BIS license for Aluminium Cans for Beverages following IS 14407 to our client.
What is BIS?
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is an organization situated in India that deals with standards, and under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution of the Government of India. Major activities of BIS include product standardization, certification, and testing.
FMCS Scheme
The BIS Act of 2016 and the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations of 2018 established the FMCS scheme, which awards a BIS license to a product of a foreign manufacturing company. The license is granted for goods that fulfill applicable Indian standards.

Suggestions to Manufacturers :
For BIS certification of the product, the manufacturer should produce a standard quality product, making sure that their product fulfills the mentioned Indian Standard Specifications (ISS). BIS officials' interpretations by Indian Standards.

BIS Auditing Process :

i. Samples are tested at the plant according to the applicable Indian standards.
ii. Sealing of the samples for independent testing at a BIS-recognized laboratory.
Whether the enterprise can comply with the regulatory and legislative obligations; such as—
