The government just released the Flashlight (Quality Control) Order, 2025. This directive was issued by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry. The flashlights are covered under this order.
Implementation Date: According to Scheme-1 of Schedule II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018, flashlights must adhere to Indian Standard 2083:2024 and display the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) as of this date.
However, starting on the date specified, micro, small, and medium-sized businesses—as defined by the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (No. 27 of 2006)—must also adhere to these requirements.
